Pattern basics

Pattern repeat changes the answer faster than most first-time buyers expect.

Two wallpapers can list the same roll size and still need different buy counts because the repeat wastes different amounts of usable drop length.

Straight match

The pattern lines up at the same height on each drop. This is simpler to plan, but long repeats still add waste.

Drop match

The next strip starts lower than the previous one. This often needs more material than people expect from the label alone.

Large repeats

If the repeat is long, order with more headroom. Tight buying gets expensive when one final strip is missing.
